The NIE is an identification number for the Foreigners in Spain and it is an essential document to allow you to take the necessary steps in order to buy a property or a house, to ask for a mortgage, to work in Spain, to declare at the Tax Office or open a bank account.

The NIE has to be applied at the National Police Station of Estepona, in Calle Hermanos Machado from Monday till Friday from 9am till 2 pm. Tel. 952 79 85 30.

After a few days you may pick up the document NIE at the same National Police Station of Estepona. The NIE number will always be the same and need to be renewed if necessary after 3 months depending on each one situation.

Documents to be presented

• Application form EX15 (original and photocopy) you can get from the foreign Department of Estepona or at the same National Police Station of Estepona .

• The receipt of payment made at the bank of approximately 10 €. This form also will be provided at the Foreign Department or at the National Police Station.

• Passport (original and photocopy).
